  • Attended common schools and studied law at Brown University, graduating in 1797.
  • Admitted to the bar in 1800 and began practicing law in Windham, Connecticut.
  • Served as probate judge of Windham County from 1818 to 1824.
  • Elected to the Nineteenth and Twentieth Congresses, serving from 1825 to 1829.
  • Initially affiliated with the Adams political faction and later with the Whig Party after its formation.
  • Resumed law practice in Connecticut after leaving Congress.
  • Died in Windham, Connecticut, and was interred in Windham Cemetery.
