  • Was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1952 and for the Democratic nomination for the United States Senate in 1956.
  • Practiced law after leaving Congress.
  • Died in Ashland, Kentucky, and was interred in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens, Flatwoods, Kentucky.
