Death
- Served as a U.S. Representative from Missouri’s 8th congressional district from 1947 to 1949.
- Attended public schools and graduated from Northwestern University Law School in 1914.
- Practiced law in Missouri from 1914 to 1941, with a focus on Potosi and Ironton.
- Held the position of prosecuting attorney for Washington County, Missouri, in 1917 and 1918.
- Served in the United States Army during World War I, achieving the rank of first lieutenant.
- Participated in local governance as a member of the board of trustees of Arcadia and the Ironton-Arcadia School Board.
- Worked as the administrator of the Missouri State Social Security Commission from 1941 to 1945.
- Elected to the Eightieth Congress as a Republican but was unsuccessful in subsequent re-election bids.
- Resumed legal practice after his congressional term and later served as general counsel for the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare from 1953 to 1961.
