Amends section 301 of the Immigration and Nationality Act to clarify citizenship at birth for certain individuals born in the U.S.
Redesignates existing subsections (a) through (h) as paragraphs (1) through (8).
Introduces a new definition stating that a person born in the U.S. is considered “subject to the jurisdiction” of the U.S. if born to:
A U.S. citizen or national.
An alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence whose residence is in the U.S.
An alien performing active service in the Armed Forces.
Clarifies that the amendments do not affect the citizenship or nationality status of individuals born before the enactment of the Act.
Includes conforming amendments to various sections of the Immigration and Nationality Act to reflect the changes made.
