Establishes a national certification program to recognize employers committed to supporting employees in balancing work and family responsibilities.
Defines “employee” and “employer” based on the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938.
Requires the Secretary of Labor to award “family-friendly certifications” to eligible employers.
Employers must implement specific family-friendly policies to qualify for certification, including:
Assistance with fertility or adoption services.
A minimum of 12 weeks of paid family leave for various reasons, including childbirth, adoption, serious health conditions, and military caregiving.
Paid sick days separate from paid time off.
Child care subsidies or policies allowing parents to work alongside infants.
Flexible work hours for parents returning from leave.
Remote work options for child care needs, if feasible.
Lactation support, including reimbursement for breastmilk delivery, access to lactation supplies, and consulting services.
Employers must submit an application to the Secretary of Labor to receive certification.
The Secretary will review applications and award certifications based on compliance with established criteria.
Authorizes necessary appropriations to implement the Act.
