Establishes the Justice Thurgood Marshall National Historic Site in Maryland as an affiliated area of the National Park System.
Recognizes Thurgood Marshall’s significant contributions to civil rights, including his role in the NAACP and as the first African American Supreme Court Justice.
Designates Public School 103, where Marshall attended elementary school, as the site for the historic designation.
The school is owned and operated by the Beloved Community Services Corporation, which has restored the building for museum use.
The National Park Service conducted a study confirming the site’s national significance and suitability for inclusion in the National Park System.
The site will be managed by the Beloved Community Services Corporation, with the Secretary of the Interior providing technical assistance and entering into cooperative agreements for its management.
The Secretary of the Interior will not acquire the property or assume financial responsibility for its operation and maintenance.
Authorizes necessary appropriations to implement the provisions of the Act.
