Legislation Details
- Amends title XIX of the Social Security Act to require additional provider screening under the Medicaid program.
- Introduces the “Medicare and Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act of 2024.”
- Requires states, beginning January 1, 2025, to conduct checks of the Death Master File for providers or suppliers at the time of enrollment (or revalidation of enrollment) and not less frequently than quarterly thereafter.
- Aims to determine whether a provider or supplier is deceased as part of the enrollment process and ongoing verification.
