The legislation aims to take approximately 72 acres of land in Washington into trust for the Quinault Indian Nation.
The land, referred to as “Allotment 1157,” will be transferred from the Forest Service to the Department of the Interior.
The land will become part of the Quinault Indian Reservation and will be administered according to laws applicable to trust property for Indian Tribes.
The land will not be eligible for gaming under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
The legislation does not affect existing treaty rights under the Treaty of Olympia.
The Secretary of the Interior must meet disclosure requirements for hazardous materials but is not required to remediate or abate any hazardous substances on the land.
