Amends title XVIII of the Social Security Act to modify the criteria for the designation of rural emergency hospitals.
Changes the reference date for certain criteria from “the date of the enactment of this subsection” to “as of January 1, 2014.”
Adds a new criterion for designation as a rural emergency hospital: being designated as rural by the Office of Rural Health Policy of the Health Resources and Services Administration.
