What Works for Preventing Veteran Suicide Act

Amends title 38 of the United States Code to establish standard practices for grant or pilot programs related to suicide prevention and mental health within the Veterans Health Administration.
Requires the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to prescribe regulations that include:
- Establishing clear and measurable objectives for programs.
- Developing a methodology and plan for evaluating the program, including information collection and analysis.
- Communicating program objectives and evaluation plans with relevant entities during development, prior to program initiation, and throughout the program’s duration.
- Conducting a performance evaluation at the program’s conclusion to validate lessons learned and assess generalizability.
- Sharing program results and best practices with relevant entities.
Mandates that regulations be prescribed within 180 days of the Act’s enactment.
Ensures that the established standard practices apply to all relevant grant or pilot programs, regardless of their establishment date.
