Legislation Details
- Amends title 38 of the United States Code to establish standard practices for grant or pilot programs related to suicide prevention and mental health within the Veterans Health Administration.
- Requires the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to prescribe regulations that include:
- Establishing clear and measurable objectives for programs.
- Developing a methodology and plan for evaluating the program, including information collection and analysis.
- Communicating program objectives and evaluation plans with relevant entities during development, prior to program initiation, and throughout the program’s duration.
- Conducting a performance evaluation at the program’s conclusion to validate lessons learned and assess generalizability.
- Sharing program results and best practices with relevant entities.
- Mandates that regulations be prescribed within 180 days of the Act’s enactment.
- Ensures that the established standard practices apply to all relevant grant or pilot programs, regardless of their establishment date.
