  • Held the position of Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates in 1906.
  • Was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 1904 to 1910 and again in 1918.
  • Served in the Maryland State Senate from 1912 to 1914.
  • Elected to the Sixty-fifth Congress to fill a vacancy and re-elected to the Sixty-sixth Congress.
  • Practiced law in Baltimore after leaving Congress.
  • Appointed as the State insurance commissioner of Maryland in 1924, serving until his death.
  • Died in 1929 and is interred in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Brooklyn, Maryland.
