Death

- Chaired the Guernsey County Military Committee during the Civil War.
- Appointed as internal revenue collector for the sixteenth Ohio district by President Lincoln.
- Contributed to the third State constitutional convention in 1873.

- Acted as president of the board of school examiners for the Cambridge Union School until his death.
