- Appointed as an assistant United States attorney in 1898.
- Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives as a Republican in 1900 and again in 1904.
- Did not seek re-election in 1906 and returned to his law practice.
- Passed away in 1912 at the age of 43 and is buried near his hometown.
