Death
- American military officer and politician active in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
- Opposed the expansion of slavery into Kentucky.
- Served in both houses of the Kentucky legislature and as a U.S. Representative.
- Participated in the American Revolutionary War, notably at the siege of Yorktown.
- Held various military ranks, including major during the Northwest Indian War.
- Elected to the Kentucky State House of Representatives in 1792 and the State Senate in 1800-1801.
- Served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1803 to 1807.
- Engaged in agricultural pursuits and inherited slaves, but freed them at age 30.
- Offered to assist in the relocation of freed slaves to Liberia.
- Died in 1843 and was buried on his farm in Kentucky.
