Born in 1783 in New York State.
Admitted to the bar in 1806 after studying law.
First lawyer to settle in Norwich, New York.
Served as surrogate of Chenango County, New York, starting in 1811.
Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives as a Democratic-Republican, serving from 1815 to 1817.
Member of the New York State Assembly representing Chenango County in 1827.
Involved in the incorporation of the Bank of Chenango.
Relocated to Fenton, Michigan, in 1839 and later moved to Flint, Michigan.
Died on July 20, 1856, in Flint, Michigan, and is buried at Glenwood Cemetery.
