Chaired the Committee on Expenditures in the Department of War during the Sixty-third and Sixty-fourth Congresses.
Did not seek renomination in 1916; ran unsuccessfully for Governor of Indiana.
Returned to the banking business after his congressional career.
Moved to Washington, D.C., in 1924 and held executive positions in various companies until 1937.
Died in Portland, Indiana, in 1938.
