Born in Nebraska and graduated from Leigh High School and the College of Pharmacy at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Worked as a pharmacist and later became involved in agriculture as a cattle feeder and farmer.
Held leadership positions in various agricultural associations, including the Nebraska Livestock Feeders Association and the Cornbelt Livestock Feeders Association.
Served on the Nebraska Highway Advisory Commission and was a delegate to the 1956 Democratic National Convention.
Chaired the Nebraska Democratic Party from 1954 to 1956.
Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, serving from 1959 to 1961.
Appointed as the administrator of the Farmers Home Administration in Washington, D.C. after his congressional term.
Passed away in 1968 and was buried in Wakefield Cemetery, Nebraska.
