Represented the 23rd district of New York from 1851 to 1853.
Attended Hamilton College and Union College, where he was involved in student organizations and graduated in 1830.
Admitted to the New York bar in 1834 after studying law.
Practiced law in Oswego, New York.
Served as district attorney for Oswego County from 1840 to 1843.
Held the position of mayor of Oswego.
After his congressional term, served as president of the board of education in Oswego and as an alderman.
Died at the age of 53 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery in Oswego, New York.
