Served as a member of the United States Congress and held judicial positions in the United States Court of Claims and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Received a Bachelor’s degree from Southwest Missouri State College and a Juris Doctor from Washington University School of Law.
Entered private legal practice after completing his education.
Elected to the Greene County, Missouri Republican Central Committee and managed his father’s Congressional campaigns.
Served as a Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserve from 1950 to 1974.
Elected to Congress in a special election to complete his father’s term, serving three consecutive terms.
Participated in a Congressional delegation that toured Buchenwald concentration camp in 1945, where he made a notable statement regarding the conditions observed.
Appointed as a Trial Judge of the United States Court of Claims, later becoming Chief of the Trial Division.
Nominated by President Nixon to the United States Court of Claims and later reassigned to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Assumed senior status in 1986 and took inactive senior status in 1997.
Authored several works on American immigration policies and the history of the United States Court of Claims.
Passed away in 2000 and is buried in Hazelwood Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri.
