  • Elected as an Independent Democrat to the U.S. House of Representatives, serving one term from 1911 to 1913.
  • Unsuccessful in seeking reelection in 1912.
  • Authored several books and history articles; lectured at New York University Summer School in 1914.
  • Engaged in orange cultivation in Florida during winter and real estate in New York during summer.
  • Married twice, with one son and one daughter from his marriages.
  • Died in Manhattan and is interred in Clearwater, Florida.
