Was an official of the United Automobile Workers Union from 1938 to 1948.
Unsuccessful in his bid for reelection to Congress in 1950 and also unsuccessful in a bid for election in 1952.
Moved to Alexandria, Virginia, and worked as a legislative representative for the United Automobile Workers’ Union after his congressional service.
Died in Arlington, Virginia, and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
