  • Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives as an Anti-Masonic candidate, serving from March 4, 1831, to March 3, 1833.
  • After his congressional term, he returned to mercantile pursuits and also worked as a hotel keeper.
  • Died on October 20, 1838, in Penn Yan, New York, and is buried at City Hill Cemetery.
