  • American politician and soldier active during the early 19th century.
  • Participated in the American Revolutionary War, fighting under Marquis de Lafayette and involved in the Siege of Yorktown.
  • Served as county sheriff in Elbert County, Georgia, before entering politics.
  • Elected to the Georgia Senate, where he presided as president.
  • Elected as a Democratic-Republican to the 13th United States Congress, serving from October 5, 1812, to March 3, 1815.
  • Appointed in 1815 as a commissioner to establish the boundaries of the Creek Indian reservation.
  • Moved to Montgomery County, Alabama, later in life and passed away in April 1832.
