Death
- Served as a U.S. Representative for three terms from 1835 to 1841.
- Initially aligned with the Anti-Jacksonian movement, later became a member of the Whig Party.
- Held the position of chairman of the Committee on Public Expenditures during his final term in Congress.
- Participated in the War of 1812 as a member of the Ohio Militia and served as Judge Advocate during a court martial.
- Practiced law after being admitted to the bar in Ohio.
- Appointed as surveyor of the port of Cincinnati by a U.S. President, serving from 1849 to 1853.
- Served as President of the Cincinnati and Zanesville Railroad from 1859 to 1862.
- Died in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was interred in Spring Grove Cemetery.
