HON. GUS M. BILIRAKIS
of florida
in the house of representatives
Mr. BILIRAKIS. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize an exceptional leader, devoted volunteer, and joyful servant of our community, Ms. Lisa Campos. Lisa is one of the most dependable and inspiring forces within the Community Service Council of West Pasco. Over the years, she has faithfully served in multiple leadership roles, including Vice President and now President. In every capacity, she has led with humility, enthusiasm, and a steadfast commitment to strengthening our community. Her leadership style is rooted in collaboration and kindness—she brings people together, motivates volunteers, and ensures that each project is carried out with care, purpose, and heart. One of the clearest examples of Lisa's character is found in the Council's largest annual fundraising event, a high-energy cooking competition inspired by the show “Chopped.” While the event draws excitement and applause, it also leaves behind a mountain of dishes and cleanup. Year after year, Lisa quietly steps away from the spotlight to take on one of the most grueling and unglamorous tasks—washing the dishes. She does so without hesitation, without complaint, and always with a smile. Her willingness to embrace the dirtiest job perfectly reflects her servant's heart. She leads not by title, but by example. Lisa's commitment to service extends far beyond the Council. She is a published children's book author whose work is available in both English and Spanish, demonstrating her creativity and her desire to reach and uplift children and families across cultures. She and her husband have also opened their home for many years to foreign exchange students, providing young people from around the world with a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment in which to learn and grow. In addition, Lisa volunteers her time by bringing her pet dog to senior citizen events, offering companionship, comfort, and joy to seniors who may otherwise feel isolated. These simple but meaningful visits brighten lives, spark connection, and remind our older neighbors that they are seen and valued. What truly sets Lisa apart is her spirit. She is cheerful, positive, and always ready to step in wherever help is needed—whether organizing an event, encouraging a fellow volunteer, or filling a last-minute gap. Her presence uplifts every room she enters, and her reliability makes her someone the community can always count on.
Mr. Speaker, for her leadership, her generosity, and her unwavering commitment to serving others, I am proud to recognize Lisa Campos as a 2026 Hero Among Us for Florida's 12th Congressional District. Her contributions have strengthened the Community Service Council of West Pasco and enriched the lives of countless individuals throughout our district. She exemplifies what it means to serve with humility, compassion, and joy.
