Served in the Maine Senate from 1992 to 2000, including as majority leader for the last four years.

Urged President Joe Biden to declare a national climate emergency and supports the Green New Deal resolution.
Voted with President Joe Biden’s stated position 100% of the time in the 117th Congress according to a FiveThirtyEight analysis.
Voted in favor of directing President Joe Biden to remove U.S. troops from Syria within 180 days in 2023.
Has three children, including Hannah Pingree, the former Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives.
Was married to S. Donald Sussman, a hedge fund manager, from 2011 to 2016.
Co-owns the Nebo Lodge Inn & Restaurant on Maine’s North Haven Island with her daughter Hannah.
