- Former United States Navy pilot
- Served in the U.S. Navy from 1998 to 2012, participating in over 30 combat missions during the Iraq War
- Worked at Raytheon Intelligence & Space as a business development manager from 2009 to 2018
- Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in a May 2020 special election, winning subsequent elections for full terms in 2020 and 2022
- Initially represented California’s 25th congressional district, later renumbered to the 27th district after 2020 redistricting
- Defeated Democratic nominee Christy Smith in all three elections he has contested
- Campaigned on strengthening the U.S. military, cutting taxes, defeating socialism, and building a wall for border security
- Voted to object to the certification of the 2020 Presidential election results
- Opposes abortion and does not support federal funding for Planned Parenthood
- Voted against the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021
- Criticized members of his own party for blocking a defense appropriations bill in 2023
- Advocates for repealing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and opposes Medicaid expansion
- Supports the construction of a wall along the Mexico–United States border and opposes the DREAM Act
- Voted to repeal the AUMF against Iraq in June 2021
- Voted to support Israel following the 2023 Hamas attack
- Voted against the Equality Act but supported the Respect for Marriage Act, which codifies the right to same-sex marriage in federal law
- Supports congressional term limits
- Introduced the State and Local Tax (SALT) Fairness Act to eliminate the SALT deduction cap
- Voted for the Merger Filing Fee Modernization Act of 2022 to address anti-competitive behavior
- Opposes statehood for Washington DC
- Married to Rebecca, an interior designer, and has two sons
