Amends the Federal Crop Insurance Act to mandate the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) to research and develop an insurance policy for table, wine, and juice grapes against freeze event losses.
Requires the FCIC to start research and development or contract qualified persons for this purpose within one year of the legislation’s enactment.
Stipulates that the FCIC must make the insurance policy available within 18 months after the legislation’s enactment if it meets certain requirements.
Directs the FCIC to submit a report to relevant Congressional committees within two years of the legislation’s enactment, detailing the research findings and describing the policies implemented.
The legislation is named the “Grape Research And Protection Expansion Act” or the “GRAPE Act”.
