Amends title 18, United States Code, to include penalty enhancements for committing certain offenses while in disguise.
Introduces the “Unmasking Antifa Act of 2024.”
Adds a new section to Chapter 13 of title 18, United States Code, specifically addressing interference with protected rights while in disguise, including wearing a mask.
Specifies that individuals who, while in disguise, injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person exercising or enjoying rights secured by the Constitution or laws of the United States can be fined and imprisoned for up to 15 years.
Clarifies that the new section does not deter law enforcement officers from carrying out their duties and that no law enforcement officer shall be considered in violation for lawfully performing their duties.
Defines a law enforcement officer as any officer empowered by law to conduct investigations or make arrests for offenses against the United States, its territories, or political subdivisions.
Amends Section 1363 of title 18, United States Code, to add that wearing a disguise, including a mask, during the commission of an offense that involves destroying buildings or property within special maritime and territorial jurisdiction results in an additional 2 years of imprisonment.
