Referred to the House Committee on Rules.
This measure changes House rules so that some Member offices can have more staff with security clearances. If a staffer is an active member of the U.S. Armed Forces and already holds a Department of Defense clearance, that person would not count against the office’s cap on security clearances processed by the House’s security office. This applies to Members who serve on Armed Services, Foreign Affairs, Homeland Security, Intelligence, and certain Appropriations subcommittees . The goal is to let these offices bring in more already-cleared military personnel to work on sensitive issues without waiting for a new House-run clearance, which could speed up national security and oversight work .
Key point: This is a change to internal House rules that targets staffing for committees handling national security topics .
