This bill lets the President keep control over Washington, DC’s police department for longer during a declared emergency. After taking control, the President could extend that emergency control in 30-day steps, as long as the President sends Congress a written notice explaining why emergency conditions still exist. It also applies to any such DC emergency that is active on or after the day this becomes law.
