Referred to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and in addition to the Committee on Rules, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
This bill changes how Congress reviews laws and actions from the District of Columbia. It sets one standard rule: Congress gets 60 days to review any D.C. law. It also clarifies the fast-track steps Congress can use to consider a vote to block a D.C. law. And it lets Congress use that vote to block parts of a law, as well as D.C. executive orders and regulations, not just whole laws, according to the bill’s official title.
