This bill would stop states and cities from blocking or limiting energy hookups or services based on the kind of energy. That means local rules could not ban or restrict connections, reconnections, installations, or expansions of service just because the energy is, for example, natural gas or electricity. It applies to many types of actions, like building codes or policies, and covers a wide range of energy sources, including natural gas, renewable natural gas, hydrogen, propane (LPG), renewable LPG, other petroleum products, biomass-based diesel and renewable fuels, and electricity.
In everyday life, this would likely prevent local bans on certain energy hookups in homes and businesses. People, builders, and utilities could choose from the listed energy sources without a city or county saying no simply because of the type of energy.
