SEC. 1. Short title
- This Act may be cited as the Enhancing COPS Hiring Program Grants for Local Law Enforcement Act.
SEC. 2. Use of public safety and community policing grants
- (a) Uses of grants
- Section 1701(b) of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 () is amended— 34 U.S.C. 10381(b)
- in paragraph (23), by striking and inserting the semicolon at the end;
- in paragraph (24), by striking the period at the end and inserting
; and; and- to provide bonuses for the recruitment and retention of law enforcement officers or career law enforcement officers employed by a law enforcement agency experiencing a decline in recruitment of officers or a high rate of retirements or resignations.

- (b) Definitions
- Section 1709 of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 () is amended by adding at the end the following: 34 U.S.C. 10389
