This bill would require the Department of Defense to have all military clinics and hospitals screen service members and their families for health problems that may come from living in unsafe housing. It also directs the department to create and maintain a registry of people with these health issues, so their health can be tracked and the link to unsafe housing can be studied. The department would run a public information campaign to explain the registry and how to sign up.
People who could be included are service members and their family members who lived in unsafe housing and developed a health problem the department believes is related to that housing. Screening can be used to help add eligible people to the registry, and the registry will include information needed to monitor their health.
