This bill makes sure certain border and immigration officers still get paid during a government shutdown. If funding runs out, it keeps paychecks going for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents and officers working critical jobs at the southwest, northern, and maritime borders, including between ports of entry. It also covers U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers and agents who handle immigration enforcement, detention and removal, and investigations into smuggling, trafficking, and other illegal trade. These payments continue only until Congress passes a new funding bill.
