This bill awards a Congressional Gold Medal to Muhammad Ali to honor his life and contributions. The U.S. Mint will make the gold medal, and after it is presented, it will be given to his wife, Lonnie Ali. The Mint may also sell bronze copies to the public to cover costs. Money from these sales goes back into the Mint’s fund. The medals are treated as national medals and official collectibles under federal law. The bill lists many of Ali’s achievements in sports, civil rights, and humanitarian work as reasons for this honor .
For most people, this is a symbolic tribute. It does not change daily life or create new programs. It may lead to bronze souvenir medals you can buy, with proceeds supporting the Mint’s costs for making them .
