Referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce, and in addition to the Committee on Appropriations, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
This bill, called the No Propaganda Act, would stop all federal money from going to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). It also tells CPB not to accept any federal funds after the law takes effect. Any unspent CPB funds from recent federal budgets would be taken back.
CPB is a nonprofit that helps fund local public TV and radio stations. Without federal funding, these stations could see cuts to programs and services that many families use for news, education, and kids’ shows.
