This bill would stop the federal government from keeping gun sale records from gun stores that go out of business. It tells the ATF to destroy all of these records it already has, and to do so within 90 days after the law takes effect. It also removes the rule that used to require closed gun dealers to send their records to the ATF in the first place. After destroying the records, the ATF must report to Congress how many records were destroyed.
