This bill makes sure Martin Luther King Jr. Day is not observed on the same day as a presidential Inauguration. If Inauguration Day would fall on the federal holiday for Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, the observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day would move to the Tuesday right after the usual third Monday in January.
