Introduced on April 28, 2025 by Daniel Goldman
This bill would create federal grants for local programs that prevent youth gun violence. The Attorney General could fund community efforts that focus on young people most at risk and help lower the chances of them being hurt or harming others. Allowable activities include healing from trauma, building skills like empathy and conflict resolution, connecting youth to mental health professionals, mentors, and violence interrupters, strengthening community belonging, sharing resources like firearm safety and safe storage, and supporting youth returning from the juvenile justice system.
From 2026 through 2030, $100 million per year would be set aside for juvenile justice grants, with $25 million of that reserved each year specifically for youth gun violence prevention programs. Eligible applicants include nonprofit, community-based groups and other organizations such as Tribes, colleges, and law enforcement agencies.
