This bill lets the U.S. give money to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to support women’s health, family planning, and safety around the world. It says services must be voluntary and not forced, and notes that UNFPA does not fund abortion and opposes any coercion or involuntary sterilization. It also highlights UNFPA’s role helping women and families during disasters and wars, where local health care may be destroyed or limited .
It authorizes at least $50 million in 2026 and at least $55 million in 2027, with the funds available until they are used. Money can go to preventing mothers from dying in childbirth, expanding access to contraception, preventing gender-based violence, ending harmful practices like child marriage and female genital mutilation, and supporting care in crisis zones.
