This bill would change federal tax rules to help families with adoption and fertility treatment costs. It would raise the adoption tax credit and create a new tax credit for in vitro fertilization (IVF) costs.
The IVF credit would let an individual lower their taxes by the amount they paid that year for IVF-related medical care for themselves (or their spouse on a joint return). You can’t “double dip”: if you use these IVF costs for this credit, you can’t also claim them as a separate tax deduction or another credit.
