SEC. 1. Short title

• This Act may be cited as the TRICARE Travel Improvement Act.

SEC. 2. Reimbursement by the Secretary of Defense for travel expenses relating to specialty care

• Section 1074i of title 10, United States Code, is amended—
  • in subsection (a)—
    • by striking In any caseand inserting Except as provided in subsection (b), in any case; and
    • by striking 100 milesand inserting 50 miles; and
  • in subsection (b)—
    • by striking the heading and inserting ;
    • by striking The Secretary of Defenseand inserting (1) The Secretary of Defense; and
      • With respect to military retirees and their dependents, the Secretary shall administer subsection (a) by substituting for . 50 miles 100 miles
    • by inserting after paragraph (1), as designated by subparagraph (B) of this paragraph, the following new paragraph:
