SEC. 1. Short title
- This Act may be cited as the Water Crisis Prevention Act of 2025.
SEC. 2. GAO review of water infrastructure disasters
- (a) In general
- Not later than 6 months after the date of enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General of the United States shall conduct a review of the existing funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency that States, localities, individuals, and small businesses are eligible for following a water infrastructure failure, including a water main break, both in instances in which an emergency declaration has been declared and in which an emergency declaration has not been declared.
- (b) Report
- Upon completion of the study required under subsection (a), the Comptroller General shall submit to Congress a report describing the results of such study, including recommendations for—
- Federal entities to partner with States to identify areas most at risk of future disasters caused by water infrastructure failure; and
- ways in which Congress could provide funding to mitigate disasters by addressing water infrastructure most at risk of failure.
