Mr. HUIZENGA. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor and to say thank you to the brave men and women in law enforcement across Michigan and our country.
people they may never meet, tirelessly holding that thin blue line. They protect our neighborhoods, our schools, our families, and our way of life, all at great personal risk.

This year officers from Michigan State Police, Oakland County, Hamtramck, Hillsdale County, Ecorse, and Melvindale are among those being added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial here in Washington, D.C. Their names, their service, and their sacrifice deserve to be remembered by a grateful nation, as do those heroes from southwest Michigan who have died in the line of duty in past years: Berrien County Deputy Sheriff Elton Stover, Mattawan Police Officer Scot A. Beyerstedt, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Officer Eric Zapata, and Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Ryan Joseph Proxmire.
