Clarke Nomination—Agreement: A unanimous-consent agreement was reached providing that at approximately 10 a.m., on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Senate resume consideration of the nomination of Sheria Akins Clarke, of South Carolina, to be United States District Judge for the District of South Carolina; that notwithstanding Rule XXII, the motions to invoke cloture filed on Thursday, May 14, 2026, ripen at 11:45 a.m., and that if cloture is invoked on the nomination of Sheria Akins Clarke, Senate vote on confirmation of the nomination at 2:15 p.m.
By 46 yeas to 43 nays (Vote No. EX. 125), Senate confirmed the following nominations en bloc:
Brian Birdwell, of Texas, to be an Assistant Secretary of Defense.
Thomas Govan, Jr., of Alabama, to be United States Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama for the term of four years.
Steven Haines, of Virginia, to be an Assistant Secretary of Commerce.
serve concurrently and without additional compensation as Ambassador to the Independent State of Samoa, the Cook Islands, and Niue.
David St. Pierre, of Maine, to be United States Marshal for the District of Maine for the term of four years.
