Mr. HARRIS of North Carolina. Mr. Speaker, today, we celebrate more than a birthday. We celebrate 100 years of American courage, sacrifice, and patriotism embodied in one extraordinary man.
Vic St. Pierre turns 100 years old today, and what a remarkable century it has been. Through war and hardship, duty and courage, Vic answered the call to serve our country time and time again.
the Vietnam war, Vic bravely marched into combat carrying the spirit of America with strength and honor.
Vic joined the United States Marines at 17 years old, driven by a desire to serve and to see the world.
What he gave in return was far greater: a lifetime of service and unwavering commitment to protecting the freedoms we cherish every day.
Mr. Speaker, as America approaches its 250th birthday, stories like Vic's remind us why this Nation remains a beacon of freedom and hope for the world. Our veterans and servicemembers are the heart of this country. They are the reason our flag still waves proudly and why generations of Americans continue to live free.
