Mr. LaHOOD. Mr. Speaker, today, I rise to honor and remember Reverend John L. Gibson, Sr. of Peoria, Illinois, a beloved pastor, gifted psalmist, community leader, and devoted servant. Reverend Gibson passed away peacefully at his home on May 27, 2026, at the age of 86, leaving behind a lasting legacy of faith, ministry, and service.
answered the call to ministry and went on to faithfully serve Rising Sun Baptist Church, later Rising Sun Christian Church, for 48 years. Under his leadership, the church grew spiritually and physically, including the construction of its 850-seat building on West Charter Oak Road in Peoria, Illinois.
