HON. CLEO FIELDS
of louisiana
in the house of representatives
Mr. FIELDS. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor The Greater New Galilee Baptist Church, a cornerstone of faith and service in the Scotlandville community of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Founded in the 1960s, and currently led by Pastor Dr. Mark A. Litt, Sr., this remarkable church has continually uplifted generations of families.
Scotlandville community for generations, with its roots on Wilbur Street going back to the 1960s. Since 1967, when the congregation secured property and financed the construction of its church and educational building, the church has served as a beacon of hope, providing a lasting center for
worship, education, and community life. Its commitment to spiritual growth, fellowship, and outreach has shaped the identity of Scotlandville, making the church a trusted haven for those seeking guidance, support, and a sense of belonging.
Through the establishment of the C.N. Burrell, Sr. Christian Academy, GNGBC expanded its impact by offering early education and childcare. This faith-based institution continues to nurture children and families, providing an environment where young minds can learn, grow, and flourish. Thereby strengthening the bonds of community and ensuring a legacy of faith-driven education in Baton Rouge.
Mr. Speaker, I invite my colleagues to join me in recognizing The Greater New Galilee Baptist Church for its unwavering dedication to service, education, and spiritual guidance. May Pastor Litt and the congregation continue to inspire, nurture, and empower families, sustaining the church's treasured traditions and vital role in community life for generations yet to come.
